2024 EUHA Sponsorship Award
The 2024 EUHA Sponsorship Award ceremony will be held on 16 October 2024 as part of the 68th International Congress of Hearing Aid Acousticians in Hanover. Awardees will accept the awards in person.

The European Union of Hearing Aid Acousticians (EUHA) wishes to make a statement with a view to extraordinary research work, thus strengthening the good cooperation with the Union of the European Phoniatricians (UEP). This partnership is aimed at learning from one another and sharing knowledge on the partner’s achievements and the options feasible as part of patient-oriented care based on the idea that hearing aid acousticians and phoniatricians should each have their share in patient management. Special emphasis is placed on paediatric audiology, diagnostics, prophylaxis, and rehabilitation.
On 15 June 2018, the EUHA presented the third European Phoniatrics EUHA Hearing Award in Helsinki, Finland. In 2018, for the first time, four recipients of the award were honoured for their particular research on ototoxic protection, a speech program for children with cochlear implants, hearing loss and radiotherapy, and subjective assessment of hearing loss.
Dr. med. Sergiu Scobioala was awarded first prize. He is a senior physician at the Clinic of Radiotherapy – Radiooncology at Münster University Hospital, and received the award for his research on the "Impact of radiation technique, radiation fraction dose, and total cisplatin dose on hearing”.
Second prize went to Dr. rer. nat. Claudia Lanvers-Kaminsky, a pharmacist who works at the Clinic for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine in the Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology at Münster University Hospital. She received the award for her thesis entitled "Human OCT2 variant c.808G>T confers protection effect against cisplatin-induced ototoxicity”.
The third prize was awarded twice. Professor Dr Tamer Abou-Elsaad, a phoniatrician from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Mansoura, Egypt, received the prize for his research on "Developing a new software program ‘Karawan’ for the habilitation of pre-lingual Arabic-speaking cochlear implanted children”. PD Dr. med. habil. Jan Löhler was also awarded third prize. He developed a questionnaire which can be used to determine subjective hearing loss. The ENT doctor’s paper is entitled "Sensitivity and specificity of the abbreviated profile of hearing aid benefit (APHAB)”.
